Hér er leslisti, úr af bloggi Daily Telegraph, fyrir G20 leiðtoga.
Þarna er meðal annars The Great Gatsby sem fjallar um nýríkidæmi, Little Dorrit sem fjallar um skuldafangelsi, og Þrúgur reiðinnar sem fjalla um fátækt fólk í kreppu.
Svo er nefnd bókin L’argent eftir Emile Zola, hún fær þá einkunn að hún sé fullkomin lesning fyrir íslenskan bankamann.
„Ok, I admit that I haven’t actually read this one, but my Zola-loving sources tell me it’s a Victorian satire on bank meltdowns that is a perfect reading material for Icelandic bankers. The main character, Aristide Saccard, is a financial wheeler-dealer who decides to set up a bank – the Banque Universelle – to fund his private projects. As he begins a quest to dominate the Paris Bourse, employees start buying the bank’s own stock to inflate the share price. Saccard then buys several newspapers to trumpet his own successes. The bank fails; the characters are driven to ruin and exile.“
Hvaða bókum mætti bæta á þennan lista? Einhverjum íslenskum bókum?
