Verðlaunahátíðatímabilið vestanhafs hefst í kvöld þegar Critics Choice verðlaunahátíðin fer fram í 31. sinn. Critics’ Choice verðlaunin eru árleg verðlaun veitt fyrir bestu afrek í kvikmynda-, sjónvarps- og streymisgeiranum, þar sem kvikmynda- og sjónvarpsgagnrýnendur (Critics Choice Association) í Bandaríkjunum kjósa tilnefningar og sigurvegara.
Það er grínistinn og sjónvarpsþáttastjórnandinn Chelsea Handler sem er aðalkynnir en hún skemmti landsmönnum í Hörpu í maí á síðasta ári. Hátíðin fer fram í The Barker Hangar í Santa Monica í Los Angeles og verður sýnd á E! og USA Network.
Verðlaunaflokkarnir eru fjölmargir, 23 í flokki kvikmynda og 21 í flokka sjónvarps.
Í flokki kvikmynda er Sinners með flestar tilnefningar, 17 talsins, einni færri en met Barbie frá árinu 2024. Leikararnir Michael B. Jordan, Wunmi Mosaku og Miles Caton eru tilnefndir til verðlauna fyrir besta leikara í aðalhlutverki, bestu leikkonu í aukahlutverki og besta unga leikara/leikkonu. Ryan Coogler fær tilnefningu sem besti leikstjóri og besta frumsamda handrit, og myndin hlaut einnig verðlaun fyrir besta leikaraval og leikhóp, bestu kvikmyndatöku, bestu framleiðsluhönnun, bestu klippingu, bestu búningahönnun, besta hár og förðun, bestu sjónrænu áhrifin, bestu brelluhönnun, besta lag, bestu tónlistina og besta hljóð. One Battle After Another fylgir næst með 14 tilnefningar.
Adolescence er efst í flokki sjónvarpsþátta í ár með sex tilnefningar, þar á meðal eina fyrir bestu stuttþáttaröð. Leikararnir hlutu viðurkenningar í mörgum flokkum, þar sem Stephen Graham var tilnefndur sem besti leikari í stuttri þáttaröð eða sjónvarpsmynd.
